Congratulations: 2018 Ginetta GT4 Supercup AM Class Champion – Michael Crees!!!!!
When DDS Demolition were approached by Michael Crees for sponsorship at the beginning of 2018, he came with no sales pitch, no big talk. He was simply one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet, who inspired confidence and generated excitement with his pure desire to succeed.
His rise to motor stardom is equally as charming and a worthy story for the grandchildren in years to come. Modestly pursuing his passion for racing, he started where most of us would need to start. With the support of his family, he began kart racing at Buckmore Park in Kent with a particularly good success rate.
Demonstrating a natural racing talent, Michael was encouraged to enter the “Want 2 Race” competition which offers a fully funded race season in the Ginetta GRDC series as the grand prize. Despite missing out on the grand prize, Michael was still offered the opportunity to join the Want 2 Race team in the Ginetta GRDC+ Series.
By early 2018, Michael had worked hard to acquire a modest number of sponsors to see him through the upcoming season. DDS Demolition being one of them, we were excited to stand proudly alongside the other sponsors to champion our future Champion!
Travelling across the Country, from Brands Hatch up to Oulton Park and back down again, as a sponsor/ supporter / spectator, throughout the 23 races Michaels incredible racing prowess not only left us thrilled, entertained and jubilant but above all genuinely pleased for such a gentleman to earn the success which was so deserved.
Looking back over the season, Crees’ talent grew from race to race. There were blips, there were learning curves, but rarely at the expense of his overall position.
The finale to such an exciting season was this weekends racing at Brands Hatch. Saturday became the defining day for Michael. Not without its drama and tension, Cress battled through and perfectly demonstrated the fine racing line between courage, intelligence and sensibility to secure his championship title. The Sunday racing saw yet more sponsors and supporters turn out for Michael and once more we were afforded the pure joy and sentiment of watching him race to success.
