DDS are pleased to announce the formation of a new specialist company within the 1948 group, dedicated to the decommissioning and dismantling of end of life aircraft.
On 10th March 2010, The Environment Agency recently introduced new legislation under the Environmental Permitting (England & Wales) Regulations 2010 requiring a permit be issued to depollute and dismantle vehicles, machinery and equipment (VME) that are not covered by the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive. Having experience in this industry, DDS applied for the Permit under a newly established sister company, Aircraft Salvage & Disposal (ASD), and were the first company within the UK to receive the a permit from the Agency.
This permit can be used across England and Wales through the deployment process to dispose of not only Aircraft, but Trains, Boats, Agricultural Machinery and other off road plant and equipment.
ASD has been working closely with EA on our first deployment (the dismantling of a McDonald Douglas DC10), to refine and improve our proposed systems of work and give them a fuller understanding of the depolluting, recycling and dismantling end-fo-life aircraft.
The aircraft was successfully depolluted and dismantled on location at Manston International Airport, Kent, UK
