Sector: Retained Facades

Although theoretically any building could be demolished whilst having its façade retained, typically this kind of work relates to listed buildings worthy of architectural merit.

As you would expect retaining facades is a complicated process that requires extensive planning and structural investigations. There is no “catchall” system that can be applied in all circumstances, and each project has to have its environs, sizes and limitations considered individually.

Retaining a façade successfully requires effective collaboration between all parties and stakeholders; much more than just the technical elements of the work. Having a well-established supply chain and liaison procedures is essential.
