Following a competitive tender, DDS was awarded the contract for demolition and height reduction of the Prince of Wales Pier in Dover, Kent.
The pier height reduction project was the first cog in the wheel for the revolutionary Dover Western Docks Revival Scheme and DDS was required to reduce the height of the pier and pier wall, both seaward and landside.
DDS has undertaken many projects in the past with elements of working over water, each individual project requires clear and concise understanding of the risks associated both to the workforce and marine environment followed by optimum methods to protect both.
The project was varied, interesting and progressed at an efficient pace. From the labelling and logging of all heritage items through to the careful demolition (especially seaward) of the pier itself, DDS was once again happy to work with a good client and proud of this successful project.
