Sector: Explosive Demolition

Demolishing structures using explosive means, despite being a ’crowd pleaser’ happens in less than one percent of demolition carried out in the UK. It’s generally carried out when a traditional mechanical demolition cannot be used due to the size or robustness of the structure to be demolished.

Although the demolition part of the process only lasts a few seconds, the preliminary works that are carried out to make the demolition process successful will take months. Structural investigations will have to be made for a charge pattern to be designed, road closure permits may need to be obtained, public interest will need to be managed etc.
