On 10 November 2009, Cabinet gave consent to authorise officers to undertake a procurement exercise for a contractor to demolish Kipling Tower. This was required because the contract value was expected to exceed £1million.
A competitive procurement process was carried out in accordance with Ealing Council’s Contract Procedure Regulations, and after thorough inspection of our proposed methodology, quotations and proposed working procesdures, Cabinet requested to award a contract to DDS Demolition.
The contractors shortlisted to be invited to tender were pre-selected via the Local Authority Constructionline system based on their feedback scores and turnover. The procurement process and pre-contract work was supported by a specialist demolition consultant to ensure that an appropriate demolition contractor was selected to deliver this task.
