NFDC Demolition Manager of the Year – Finalist!

As a longstanding member of the NFDC, DDS Demolition considered it high time to get involved and nominate one of our very own for 2018’s Demolition Manager of the Year Award and we are thrilled to confirm he made it as a finalist!

Paul Beck – Demolition Manager has worked at DDS Demolition for 11 years and it’s fair to acknowledge that we appreciate each and every one of them.

As a knowledgeable and humble colleague, Paul naturally emits a sense of calm and authority. He has led a variety of key and significant projects for DDS Demolition, the most recent of which prompted his nomination.

The outline scope for this high profile and highly visible project was to demolish 2 no multi storey car parks and reinforced concrete ramp which sat directly atop the live passenger terminal within a busy, live Port. Furthermore, the buildings sat in the middle of the circular commuter lanes – both pedestrian and vehicular for tourist and freight traffic – which also needed to remain live at all times.

The project was technically challenging and exciting in equal measure with Pauls experience and expertise shining through as he delivered inventive and innovative engineering and solutions throughout. For more details on this specific project, refer to our previous article “The Complexity of Demolition”.

The awards took place on Friday 23rd March with Paul and senior members of the team attending the luncheon (which looked a very enjoyable afternoon). Paul was entirely deserving of the nomination and came runner up but, as cheesy as it may be, he is already a winner in our eyes.
