When you are appointing your demolition contractor, due diligence will usually uncover a snapshot of their experience and capabilities, but what about their Accreditations?
Some time ago, DDS Demolition chose to invest significantly in our commitment to maintaining existing and gaining further accreditations, carefully selecting those that would benefit our business.
We decided to focus on strengthening our core value being Health, Safety and Welfare. We subsequently obtained our Integrated Management System which covers the 3 standards ISO 14001 (Environmental), OSH 18001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 9001 (Quality).
Who awards the Accreditations?
- There are many organisations that can audit and award these accreditations, but we opted to employ an organisation certified by the accredited body, UKAS (which is Alcumas ISOQAR who also own Safecontractor). This level of conscientiousness ensures that DDS Demolition is legally compliant with health, safety and environmental legislation whilst upholding a high standard of quality. This diligent process means that ISOQAR conduct the audits, then UKAS audit ISOQAR to guarantee that the highest levels of standards are achieved.
Why are these Accreditations important?
- They establish whether a company or organisation meets a predetermined standard of quality in regard to health, safety and environmental practices and the services they provide.
- Effectively, it delivers confidence and peace of mind that your chosen demolition contractor operates professionally, safely and remains legally compliant in an ever changing industry.
As well as the breadth of other industry bodies that DDS are members of such as NFDC, Constructionline, Chas, Safecontractor, Achilles, Exor and beyond, the Integrated Management System has enabled DDS to apply the associated core values company-wide.
The time, money and commitment involved in obtaining and maintaining the multitude of accreditations that DDS hold is substantial but wholly worth it.
In todays climate of exceptional and justified caution with regard to Health, Safety and Welfare, DDS embrace the opportunity to rise above the parapet and lead by example.
